Rock Fig Lodge has a unique ground level hide overlooking a 20 000 litre watering hole. The hide is visited by a range of wildlife from the smallest klipspringer to the largest of elephants.
The low angle of the hide gives photographers the ideal position for take unique wildlife shots.
The hide gives you the opportunity to watch wildlife from ground level, with the animals unaware that you are there.
The hide is exclusively available to guests at Rock Fig Lodge at all times. The red LED interior lights make this a perfect setting for late night game viewing with you being completely invisible to the animals.
We have a choice of 2 lighting options for the water hole either a soft red or a white light.
The comfortable seating ensures that you stay as long as you want, waiting for that elusive leopard to walk by.
Residents at Ingwe Villa has access to their own private viewing deck.
A range of wildlife visit this water hole on a regular basis. It is well illuminated by a flood light for night time viewing.
The deck is furnished with comfortable easy chairs and couches for a picture perfect sunset.
We offer 2 game drives a day. The game drives are conducted by experienced game rangers.
Madikwe is located in the transition zone between the wet eastern and dry western side of South Africa . This is unique in that Springbok and Impala can be viewed in the same reserve as well as the Brown and Spotted hyena.
Other game to be on the lookout for is lion, cheetah and leopard. The white and black rhino can be spotted in Madikwe as well as the African hunting dog or more commonly known as Wild dog.

Please note:
Self catering bookings - We pride ourselves in preparing all our meals fresh and therefore if you would like to change from self catering to full board (catered option) or have any meals with us, please let us know at least 7 days prior to arrival so that we can prepare accordingly.
Deposit Policy
- For all bookings made within 60 days of travel
- Full payment Is required within 48 hours of your booking. This payment can be made via bank transfer or credit card (Master/Visa).
- For all bookings made more than 60 days of travel
- A 50% deposit Is required within 48 hours of your booking and the balance 30 days prior to arrival. This payment can be made via bank transfer or credit card (Master/Visa).
Cancellation Policy
- All cancellations must be in writing.
- If a booking is cancelled after confirmation, a 20% cancellation fee will apply.
- Payment balance will be due 60 days prior to travel, year round; bookings with 60 days or less to travel require full payment upon confirmation
- Cancellations made with 60 days or less to travel are subject to a 100% cancellation fee.
